This unique selection of contemporary artefacts from Korea is sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism. We carried out a professional overview of the current lighting equipment to evaluate what was achievable in a short amount of time.

The exhibition at the Korean Cultural Centre was composed of six different galleries and spaces, each with its unique features and themes. Of these, three were located at the front of the building and visible from the street. The aim was to make these exhibit spaces as attractive and inviting as possible, encouraging visitors to explore further.

To achieve this, we designed a lighting scheme that was both beautiful and attention-grabbing. The lighting was carefully placed to highlight the most important features of the exhibits, while also creating an atmosphere of intrigue and wonder. We also employed cutting-edge technology to reduce the amount of shadowing on the objects, resulting in displays that were visually stunning and captivating.

We worked with the Korean Cultural Centre installation team and an art handler from Korea, swapping out all the lamps in the light fittings for LEDs (4000K cool white). Additionally, we adopted a retrofitting approach to achieve uniform colour rendering and an efficient lighting design solution.

In addition to the lighting, we also paid close attention to the layout and arrangement of the exhibits. Each gallery was carefully curated to showcase the unique characteristics of Korean culture. The exhibition was informative and entertaining, providing visitors with a comprehensive overview of Korean culture and its rich history.

The entire team worked incredibly hard, and we were all focused on delivering a fascinating exhibition. You can view extra information and images about this exciting London-based art lighting design project via Make Your Movements.
