Contemporary Art Gallery Lighting Design

Project News

The Korean Cultural Centre UK contacted our lighting design studio to deliver contemporary art gallery lighting design services for their new exciting art exhibition “Make Your Movements: Korean Contemporary Objects, A New Approach”

This unique selection of contemporary art objects from Korea is sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sport & Tourism. Our lighting designers carried out a professional overview of the current lighting equipment to evaluate what was achievable in the short amount of time available.

The exhibition at the Korean Cultural Centre was divided into six separated galleries and spaces. Three of these exhibit spaces were street facing. For this reason it was vital these exhibit spaces should have beautiful lighting with an additional WOW factor to successfully attract visitors wanting to explore more. We improved the present lighting, so that objects could be lit with reduced casting of shadows. The displays looked striking and visually stimulating.

Working with the Korean Cultural Centres installation team and art handler from Korea we swapped out all lamps in the light fittings to LED’s (4000K cool white). We adopted a retrofitting approach to achieve a uniform colour render and efficient lighting design solution. The entire team worked incredibly hard and we all focused to deliver a fascinating and exciting exhibition.
