Project update

We were delighted to return to Babur in its 38th year to oversee renovation works to the internal walls of the restaurant, which were originally skinned with American walnut. With time, they needed some TLC to return them to their original splendour.

Numerous wood finishing specialists were consulted to determine what process would provide the very best finish. After producing various samples, the decision was taken to completely strip the wood of its existing finish and then apply a water-based stain to counter the sun’s bleaching effects, followed by a satin French polish with acrylic sealant to improve its durability.

The final wood finish has transformed the restaurant interiors for all of its well-established clientele to enjoy for the next 30 years!!
